We all have challenges in our lives. Some happen on a daily or weekly basis and we barely notice them. Others are times that were so painful we didn’t know if we would survive. Some of those trials happen in a moment and we spend the rest of our lives putting the pieces back together and other trials can carry through several seasons of our lives. Sometimes we get past them and sometimes we don’t. Sometimes we wear the scars from those trials for the rest of our lives and other times the wounds heal to the degree you would never know there was one.
Some people share their stories freely and others hold theirs in. I believe our stories, our lives, happen so we can help others navigate similar paths. But often we are made to feel our story doesn’t matter. But the truth is we all have a story and Satan would love nothing more than for us to believe otherwise. He wants us to be afraid and cowardly. He would like nothing better than to take away the identity that we have in Jesus. In reality, through Jesus, we have all the tools we need to fight these lies of the enemy and help others to do the same.
We are called to share our stories. It doesn’t have to be from a stage, in a crowd, or from the pulpit. But when we tell our story to others, whether it be in a conversation, a song, a photo, a painting, a blog, or a podcast, the person receiving can heal, and so can we. Two months ago I began my podcast Reviving Your Soul (Now Longing for More) because I felt I was being called to share my story. As scary as it seemed, I felt God had whispered in my ear that a podcast was the format he wanted me to use. Honestly, I loved the idea that it would be free and available to anyone, anywhere. So I hired a coach to help me learn the process, purchased the necessary equipment, and learned how to use the recording package on my laptop. Yes, it’s been a stretch for me, but for the most part, I’ve really loved it.
In this week’s episode of Reviving Your Soul (Now Longing for More), called The Gift of Letting Go, I talk about how I started to doubt whether my story was good enough to share. Thankfully my coaching friends helped me to see that my story, my gift really, is the ability to let things go and move on. They helped me to see that I need to share that gift. I feel that it is just another example God gave me of how I can help others who struggle with doubts and fears to learn to let go and move on with their lives. To help those who have setbacks in life, but want more. Who have opportunities to have a better life, but are afraid to take action. They helped me see that I can help others overcome the lies of Satan and become what God has called them to be, too.
Your story is yours and yours alone. No one else can tell it. Satan will tell you that you should be ashamed of your past, or that you aren’t good enough. If he is successful in that, you will keep quiet and he can keep others from living the amazing life that God has called each one of us to live. In this week’s podcast, I share my story about a broken relationship and the beginning of my journey toward forgiveness. I hope you’ll listen so that you or someone you love might heal through listening to my experience. So you, too, can experience god’s grace through my story.
What are you holding on to that isn’t serving you anymore? What can you let go of that will free space for the great thing God has in store for you? Are you ready to forgive yourself for your past, let go of the idea that you made mistakes, and embrace the idea that everyone and everything happened for a reason? There are seasons for everything. It’s time to live a life of courageous faith! To put your past behind you and step into the life your soul is longing for!
Thank you for letting me share my story. To hear the rest of the story, search for Reviving Your Soul (Now Longing for More) here.
God bless and have an amazing week.
