Do you ever regret your actions? As much as I’d like to think I avoid regrets, I don’t always handle situations the way I know I should. Like this recent exchange with a hotel desk clerk.
There was a credit card charge I didn’t recognize so I called to straighten the situation out. Let’s just say, I didn’t handle the conversation well at all. It was a little thing, but I had blown it out of proportion, and admittedly, I was outright rude to the young man on the phone. I even hung up on the guy, and all he did was relay information that wasn’t what I wanted to hear.
I regretted my actions immediately.
I tried to shrug it off and shift my focus to my evening Bible study. But my mind kept coming back to the conversation and the nagging thought that I needed to call and apologize. Surely the clerk had moved on by now and would think I was ridiculous if I called him back now.
But I couldn’t shake it. In my heart, I knew I was wrong and needed to apologize for my rude behavior if I was going to live in integrity with my values. The Holy Spirit convicted me of my unkind behavior, and I knew what to do.
Fortunately, the person I spoke to earlier answered the phone and graciously accepted my apology. That call not only lifted a weight from my heart but also brought a sense of peace and relief. It transformed a regret into a moment I could be proud of because I had the courage to do the right thing.
Yes, it was a little thing, but now I knew I could move on with NO REGRETS.
Regret is easy to dwell on. And it can drag us down if we let it.
In this week’s episode of Courageous Retirement, I talk with my guest, LeeAnn Marie Webster, about how she learned to let go of regret and live life to the fullest, both in the small things and the big things. Her journey is not just inspiring, but also empowering, and I hope it will motivate you to do the same.
It’s an important conversation, and I hope you’ll either watch it on my YouTube channel or listen to it on your favorite place to do podcasts (you can find a link here.).
The episode is not just about living without regrets, but also about living a life that brings glory to Jesus. It’s a conversation that will engage you and leave You with a lot to think about.
