Commemorating Our Heros
I am beyond grateful for the freedoms we enjoy as a result of their sacrifices, I just don’t take the time to attend the services that are usually held on November 11. Of course this year there are few if any services to attend.
Ironically, this is the year I feel more patriotic toward those who fight for our freedoms than I have in many years. Especially because our freedoms feel so limited these days.
At our city commission meeting the other night, the minister leading the prayer prayed not only for our Veterans but included all front-line personnel. The people who are fighting for the lives of people right here at home. The nurses, doctors, health administrators, health department employees, nursing home staff, police officers, school personnel, emergency workers, and even the funeral home workers who are exhausted from the work they do.
They are fighting a different front line, but one that is no less important than any war zone. Although I haven’t been to the “front lines,” I know several who have either as a patient, caregiver, or some other public servant. And just like in war, they are exhausted. They work long hours and courageously enter the field when most of us hold back and aren’t allowed to help even if we wanted to.
And I for one am extremely grateful to them for their service.
So today, please take a moment to give a prayer of thanks for ALL our Veterans. The ones currently on the front lines, the ones who have served in the past and are now getting a much-needed rest, and the ones who are no longer with us.
And if you happen to talk to one of them today, tell them thank you for their sacrifices and let them know we are all praying for their safety.
Until next time, be blessed, stay safe, and Live Your More!
