It’s easy to get discouraged when we focus on the things that are happening in the world around us. In fact, we sometimes have a hard time remembering that God is in control.
But if we focus on God’s response when Job questioned God’s wisdom when everything in his world was falling apart, we are reminded that all is not ours to understand.
This week’s episode highlights a dramatization of God’s response by Pastor Sam Handschke. It’s a powerful reminder that the God who created the universe and everything in it is still and always will be in control.
Main Points From the Show
The God who created the world is in control. The episode is based on Job 38-41 and is taken from a dramatization done by Pastor Sam Handschke of Faith Lutheran Church in Pierre, South Dakota. Here is a link to watch the actual sermon (which is NOT your typical sermon!). The dramatization begins at 34 minutes on the video.
It is a great reminder that there are things we simply cannot know and we need to trust God in these challenging times.
Quotes from the Show
Following is an excerpt taken from the English Standard Version of Job 38: 1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
2 “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Dress for action like a man;
I will question you, and you make it known to me.
4 “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 On what were its bases sunk,
or who laid its cornerstone,
7 when the morning stars sang together
and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
To read the full conversation you will want to read the Book of Job. This episode is focused on chapters 38 through 41.
